Before you leave

Confirm your student visa and save a digital + printed copy of the approval Accept your university offer and pay any enrolment deposit Arrange accommodation (or temporary housing for the first nights) Book flights and note your arrival/orientation dates Buy or arrange health insurance that meets your visa requirements Make certified copies and scans of your passport, visa and certificates Tell your bank you're moving abroad and check card fees Pack essential documents in your carry-on, not your checked bag

First week

Attend international-student orientation and register with the office that holds your record Register your address with the local authority if required Get your campus ID and activate your student email and Wi-Fi Open a local bank account Get a local SIM or activate an eSIM Learn your public-transport options and get any student travel pass Find the nearest supermarket, pharmacy and doctor / campus health centre

Settling in

Join at least one club or society Set up a budget and track your spending Save local emergency numbers in your phone Explore your neighbourhood and find a study spot you like
